Late Night Jam on Saturday Night

For the very first time the Upton Blues Festival will be holding a late night jam session – your chance to get up on stage with our main stage band members.

ONLY OPEN TO CAMPERS ON THE OFFICIAL CAMPSITE AND WRISTBANDS WILL BE CHECKED ON ENTRY the jam session will run from midnight till 2am in the Memorial Hall, led by Tommy Allen. It is free to enter but there is a strict 210 limit on the room so, its on a first come first served basis.

We will close the Memorial Hall as soon as the Acoustic Stage finishes at 11pm to give us time to re-organise for the jam and re-open at 11.30pm and start the music at midnight. To take part bring your instrument (there will be back line) and put your name down on arrival.

The bar will run till 1.30am and we would ask anyone coming along to respect the local residents and businesses and arrive and leave slowly. This is a test event this year and questions have been asked by the Town Council and Local Traders organisation so all eyes are apon us!!

Benny Gallagher Songwriting Workshop Announced

Sunday morning of the festival in the Memorial Hall we will have a songwriting workshop from Benny Gallagher, a top British songwriter for many years who’s songs have been performed by some of the best known names in the music industry …. and you (they are that well known!). Upton Blues Nominated in the UK Festivals Awards 2012

The whole Organising Committee of the Upton Blues Festival have been nominated in the Promoter of the Year category of the prestigious UK Festivals Awards.

The only blues festival to be nominated in any of the 15 categories, this nomination particularly recognises the volunteer Committee’s difficulties with the flooded river in the build up to the 2012 festival, along with the ability the Committee shows to deliver a fantastic festival year in year out in their spare time.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the UK festivals Awards Dinner on the 3rd December – watch this space.

Festival Now a Registered Charity

The Upton Blues Festival is now a Registered Charity which recognises the not-for-profit nature of the event, its volunteer committee and brings a number of other benefits. We hope that this will help us put the festival on a secure financial footing and enable us to safely develop and improve it into the future.
